Who We Are

oroptimist International of Bidwell Rancho-Chico (SI/Bidwell Rancho-Chico) is one of two Soroptimist clubs active in Chico, California. We are a charter of Soroptimist International which is a worldwide volunteer organization for business and professional women working to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.We are a sisterhood of local women invested in the mission of making our community and the world a better place for women and girls. Through participation in the programs and service projects of Soroptimist International, SI/Bidwell Rancho-Chico offers its members an opportunity to contribute their talents and volunteer time to community service. Our members find they are personally enriching their lives while helping others at the same time. Together our members become a local and a global voice for women and girls at home and around the world.SI/ Bidwell Rancho-Chico was established by a group of committed women in the Chico area and granted a charter by Soroptimist International on June 29, 1987. We have grown from 15 original charter members to approximately 30 members today. Several of the original charter members are still active in our club today.Soroptimist International is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and works with other non-government organizations (NGOs) and various United Nations agencies to promote the changes necessary to make the world a better place for this and future generations.
